General FAQ
The most common questions about POSBridge, SumUp and Shopify POS.
Which SumUp devices are supported?
POSBridge supports only the SumUp Solo and SumUp Solo Printer. These devices have an API mode. SumUp Air, 3G, Lite and other older models have no API mode and are NOT compatible.
How do I connect SumUp to POSBridge?
POSBridge → Settings → Connect SumUp via OAuth → log in with SumUp account → click Allow. No API key or merchant code needed.
Do I need a Shopify POS Pro plan?
No. POSBridge works with any Shopify POS plan — including the free POS Lite version.
Is customer data stored?
No. POSBridge stores only transaction data (amount, status, IDs). No card numbers, no personal customer data. Fully GDPR compliant.
How do I connect SumUp to POSBridge?
POSBridge → Settings → Connect SumUp via OAuth → log in with SumUp account → click Allow. No API key or merchant code needed.
Can I use multiple terminals?
Yes, depending on plan: Starter 1 terminal, Basic 2 terminals, Pro & Enterprise unlimited. Each iPad can be assigned to a specific terminal.
What happens if WiFi is interrupted?
Ongoing payments are marked EXPIRED after a timeout. The terminal shows an error. You can restart the payment afterwards. Whether a card was charged during a timeout can be verified in the SumUp app under Transactions.
Can I charge partial amounts?
Yes. In the POSBridge modal enter the amount manually or tap partial amount. Useful for deposits or split payments.
What is Quick Mode?
Quick Mode automatically sends the payment to the terminal after a configurable countdown (0–10 sec.) — without manual confirmation. Ideal for high-throughput environments.
How do refunds work?
Simply create the return or refund as usual in Shopify POS or the Shopify admin — POSBridge automatically detects it and pays the amount back to the customer's SumUp card. Full and partial refunds are supported. If the SumUp balance is temporarily insufficient, POSBridge automatically retries the refund for up to 7 days — the status is visible on the order in POS and in the admin under Refunds.
How long does my data stay after cancellation?
Your data is retained for 30 days after uninstallation. Then automatic deletion in compliance with GDPR.
